Effective immediately the City of Easthampton Department of Public Works is ending the water use restriction for users of the Easthampton Public Water System. The City’s water supply system is regulated by the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP). MassDEP requires restrictions to be implemented when certain criteria are met.
Earlier this month, Energy and Environmental Affairs Secretary Matthew Beaton, downgraded the drought declaration for the Connecticut River Valley from a “Drought Warning” to a “Drought Watch” based on a recommendation from the Commonwealth’s Drought Management Task Force.
As a “Drought Watch” remains in effect for our region we ask that users continue to be mindful of non-essential water consumption.
The DPW appreciates the efforts users have made to comply with this restriction and help protect our most valuable resource.
